    DIRECTOR OF SKATING - NATIONAL COACH

    After a very rewarding and successful competitive career highlighted by being BC Champion in every level as well as a win at the Senior level for Western Canada, Deena merited principle roles for several years as a touring professional with Ice Capades.

    After 25 years as a competitive figure skating coach and years leading skaters to the National championships, she has continued to expand her knowledge of the sport and is a Challenge level Technical Specialist.

    Deena has been the Director of Skating at RCV for 25 years.

  • Matt Willis

    ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - NATIONAL COACH

    Matt has over two decades of coaching experience as well as invaluable experience as a national/international competitor in multiple disciplines.

    Matt has coached skaters to the national level or higher in men’s and ladies’s freeskate, pairs, and ice dance. In addition to coaching, Matt is the Chair of the Vancouver Island Region Coaches Committee, Chair of the Vancouver Island Skater Development Committee, and a Director on the VI Region Executive.

    Matt was born in Comox, British Columbia and trained at Champs International Skating in Burnaby, Centre Elite de Boucherville in Montreal, and the Glencoe Club of Calgary.

    TEST AND COMPETITION ADMINISTRATOR -PROVINCIAL COACH

    Allee discovered her passion for skating at the tender age of four and has since embarked on a journey filled with remarkable achievements. Over the years, she has distinguished herself by becoming the Interpretive Champion at numerous events, a testament to her dedication and skill on the ice. Her outstanding performances led her to represent British Columbia at the prestigious STAR skate Nationals. Beyond her athletic pursuits, Allee has devoted many years as a cherished coach at RCV, where her expertise and guidance have been invaluable to aspiring skaters. When she's not at the rink, Allee dedicates her time as an Educational Assistant within the district, channeling her passion for working with children. Her dual commitment to both sports and education showcases her versatility and deep dedication to nurturing the next generation. RCV is truly fortunate to have Allee's wealth of experience and passion as part of their community.

  • Veronica Smith

    REGIONAL COACH

    Veronica's journey on ice began when she was just three years old. By the age of 18, her passion and dedication had propelled her into a professional skating career. Not only did she excel as a singles skater, but she also showcased her versatility and skill as a pairs competitor. Her talent led her to perform with esteemed productions such as Disney on Ice, the Russian Ice Stars, and Willy Bietak Productions. However, amidst all her achievements, Veronica's true fulfillment comes from her role at RCV. There, she dedicates herself to mentoring budding skaters, drawing from her rich experiences in both singles and pairs skating. Her mission is to inspire and guide RCV skaters, helping them set and reach their own unique goals in the world of ice skating.

  • Jasper Blake

    OFF ICE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

    Jasper is the strength and conditioning coach at RCV. He has an honours degree in Human Kinetics from the University of Guelph and is a former professional triathlete. Jasper is an NCCP certified coach in triathlon, tennis, alpine skiing, track and field and is certified in fundamental movement skills.
